My name is Aric Capel.

I am an engineer, scientist, philosopher, inventor, creative, and explorer.

I love physics and cosmology, science and technology, complexity and evolution, and the endless quest for discovery.

I explore the mind, technology, human capabilities and limitations, and life in the universe. I try to predict the future and think of solutions for problems that may not yet exist. Of course, these days I am focused on solutions for the present moment.

I enjoy designing systems and writing code. I love digging deep and working out complicated issues. I like the idea that what I do can change the world for the better in some way.

My career has spanned several disciplines and industries, as I have evolved and grown in my life. Many years ago I worked temp jobs in food service and marketing. Eventually I finished school and embarked on an academic career path in molecular biology. Then I pivoted into software development, DevOps, and infrastructure engineering. Now I am writing code to enable artificially intelligent applications.

Along the way I gained an education in molecular biology, chemistry, physics, astrobiology, ethics and philosophy. I gathered and analyzed metagenomic data to discover new, extreme life. I studied evolution in cooperative systems in response to environmental stress. I had an amazing experience working with some of the best scientists in their fields.

I have worked in multiple industries: media, transportation, academia, and technology. I have worked in private and non-profit sectors. I have worked with people from all over the world remotely and on-site.
